This movie shows how the occupied MOs change during the reaction H+ + H2O reaction. All the MOs change to some extent, but the most significant is MO3 which is weakly bonding in H2O but becomes strongly bonding in H3O+

Speed:

  • Select which MO to view using the menu (be patient - there is a lot of data to load!)
  • Click "play once" to play through the movie once, or "loop" to run the movie continuously
  • Pause the movie with "pause" and resume with "carry on"
  • Alter the speed using the radio buttons
  • Alter the view by clicking and dragging in the usual way
