Weblink 8.3 Movie showing how the HOMO and LUMO change during the H⁺ + ethene reaction

This movie shows how the HOMO (MO6) and the LUMO (MO7) change during the reaction between H⁺ and ethene. The HOMO starts out as the p bonding MO, but then as the H⁺ approaches electron density moves over to the hydrogen, ultimately giving a C—H bonding MO. The LUMO starts out as a 1s AO on the hydrogen and ends up as a vacant 2p AO on the left-hand carbon.

Select which MO to view using the menu (be patient - there is a lot of data to load!)
Click "play once" to play through the movie once, or "loop" to run the movie continuously
Pause the movie with "pause" and resume with "carry on"
Alter the speed using the radio buttons
Alter the view by clicking and dragging in the usual way
