Pulse sequence for absorption-mode J-spectroscopy ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Contents 1. Notes 2. Contents 3. Experimental Setup 4. Data Processing ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Notes a) Please feel free to use and modify this pulse sequence. However, we take no responsibility for any damage caused. Check all the power levels and gradient strengths before running the experiment. b) The pulse sequence has been tested on a couple of spectrometers running XWIN-NMR 3.5 and TOPSPIN 1.3, so you may get machine-dependent errors. c) Refer to the following paper for further details: J. Magn. Reson., 189, 293--299 (2007). If you have any queries, send an email to AJP or JHK. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. Contents - J-spectroscopy pulse sequence. - BIP shaped pulse file. This is pulse BIP-720-25-40 as described in the following paper: M.A. Smith, H. Hu, A.J. Shaka, J. Magn. Reson., 151, 269--283 (2001). ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. Experimental Setup The experimental setup is relatively straightforward. All you need to do is: a) Set the gradient strength so that the spread of frequencies across the whole sample matches the width of the spectrum. b) Set the power of the selective refocusing pulse. This will depend on the separation of the multiplets you wish to decouple: the closer the multiplets, the lower the power. Bear in mind that the more selective the pulse, the lower the sensitvity in the final spectrum. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4. Data processing The data processing is again very straightforward. a) Set the MC2 parameter to echo-antiecho. b) Type 'xfb' and phase as usual.
